SPONSOR-A-BOOK: The Risk of Being Seen for a Young Person in the Juvenile Justice System ($25)

$25.00

Put a copy of The Risk of Being Seen: How To Come Out Of Unwanted Invisibility And Embrace The Will To Win in the hands of one of our at-promise youth navigating the juvenile justice system, with your own words of encouragement written inside.

Tamaira “Miss Tee” Sandifer has been serving these young people since 2012. She would teach inside juvenile hall and go home crying, because she only had them for a week, sometimes fifteen minutes. Some of them get displaced. They end up homeless, lost, or on the run in another city. She needed to leave something in their hands that would keep working after she was gone.

This book is that something. It took eight years to write, because Miss Tee had to heal from her own trauma to finish it. It was built for them to keep.

When you sponsor a copy, you are not making a donation into the air. One young person opens one book and finds a stranger’s message telling them they matter.

How it works:

  • Sponsor a copy for $25

  • Write your personal message of encouragement at checkout

  • We deliver the book, with your message inside, free of charge

Includes:

  • One physical copy of The Risk of Being Seen, given to a young person in juvenile hall

  • Your personal message placed inside the cover

  • Hand delivery by Miss Tee and her team

  • Sponsor as many copies as you like: one, a classroom or a whole unit
